Nonprofit group No Worries Now throws a red carpet-worthy bash for 500 teens at Madame Tussauds in Hollywood on Wednesday night.
Prom is a rite of passage for many teens, complete with evening gowns, dinner and dancing, but the one held Wednesday at Madame Tussauds in Hollywood wasn’t your typical prom and the attendees weren’t your average teens.
Many of the participants live with life-threatening medical conditions, but were given the opportunity to put aside their worries for a night full of red carpet treatment.
No Worries Now, a nonprofit that organized the event, coordinated and helped arrange everything including the dresses and tuxes, accessories and shoes, and the entertainment. Most of the services were donated or offered at a discount to make the experience free for the teens.
Marta Belcher, executive director of No Worries Now, said about 500 people were expected to attend. Generous donors included Kim Kardashian’s online shoe collection, Shoe Dazzle, and hair done by stylists from Bravo’s reality show Shear Genius, she said.
